Parent/Player Code of Conduct

Expectations for Players:
  • I will be accountable for my behavior and its outcome.
  • I will play by the rules and resolve conflicts without cheating or fighting.
  • I will treat players, coaches, officials and my parents with respect.
  • I will not yell at or tease a teammate for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  • I will not use profane language or gestures.
  • I will put forth my best effort and, regardless of outcome, I will know I gave 100%.
  • I will listen to my parents and thank them for giving me the opportunity to participate in organized sports.

Expectations for Parents, Guardians and fans:
  • We will remember that children participate in sports for their enjoyment, not ours.
  • We will encourage our children to participate, not force them.
  • We will focus on our children’s effort and performance, not winning or losing.
  • We will encourage our children to play by the rules and settle disagreements without hostility or violence.
  • We will never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition.
  • We will remember that children learn best by example. We will appreciate good performances by all participants.
  • We will respect the rights, dignity and worth of every child regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • We will show respect for all coaches, volunteers, officials and administrators. Without them our children could not participate.
  • We will respect the decisions and judgments of referees and officials and teach our children to do likewise.
  • We will never exhibit disruptive behavior, hostility or violence, and never use insulting, derogatory, threatening or hostile language towards players, officials, coaches or other fans.
  • We will support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
  • We will never bring, use or consume any alcohol or illegal drugs at any event. Field use is by permission of Harford County Parks and Recreation. We will not jeopardize field use by our behavior.
  • We will promise to act responsibly, set a good example, and at all times demonstrate the practices and principles of good sportsmanship, which will reflect the dignity, integrity and enjoyment of the sport.
  • We will inform family, friends and other fans who attend events to abide by the same rules and principles.
  • We realize that a game is what the name suggests, A GAME.
  • We promise to stay behind the sideline barrier at all times, home or away.
  • We will never leave our child unattended at the field without prior arrangements being made for safety reasons.
  • We will volunteer our time to work the fields and other areas because everyone is a volunteer.
  • Unacceptable Behavior for Everyone:
  • Booing or heckling an official’s decision.
  • Criticizing officials in anyway; displaying temper with an official or coach.
  • Blaming losses on officials, coaches or other participants.
  • Using abusive or profane language.
  • Ridiculing or yelling at a child (including your own) for making a mistake or losing a game.

Parent/Player Code of Conduct

I hereby certify that I have been given and read the Jarrettsville Recreation Football 2018 Parent/Player Code of Conduct. Any questions I had have been answered and I fully understand the Expectations for Players, Expectations for Parents and Fans and the Unacceptable behaviors for everyone. I also understand that failure to adhere to the standards outlined in the Parent/Player Code of Conduct 2018 may result in dismissal from the program.
